PSG handed boost ahead of Champions League semi-final second leg with Arsenal
Paris Saint-Germain are optimistic about having Ousmane Dembele back for the second leg of their Champions League semi-final clash with Arsenal.
The French winger returned to team training earlier today after suffering a hamstring injury during the first leg at the Emirates Stadium.

Dembele opened the scoring just four minutes into last week’s match, handing PSG a 1-0 win and quieting the home crowd. That goal marked his 33rd of the season across all competitions.
However, his night ended prematurely when he was substituted in the final 20 minutes due to a muscle issue in his right thigh. Head coach Luis Enrique brought on Bradley Barcola in his place and later confirmed the substitution was injury-related.
The 2018 World Cup winner did not feature in PSG’s 2-1 Ligue 1 loss to Strasbourg over the weekend. Despite initial fears that he might miss the return leg against Arsenal, there are now signs of progress.
French outlet RMC Sport reported that Dembele completed three out of four training exercises with the rest of the squad today and reportedly “felt good” throughout the session.
PSG’s coaching and medical teams are now focused on getting the 26-year-old fully fit for the decisive match. There is growing confidence that he could at least be part of the matchday squad, if not the starting XI.
Dembele has been a standout performer in the Champions League this season, scoring eight goals, with only four players – Serhou Guirassy, Raphinha, Harry Kane, and Robert Lewandowski – finding the net more often.
His rise in form follows an earlier disciplinary incident when he was dropped from PSG’s group stage match against Arsenal in October after arriving late to a team meeting. According to former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, speaking to beIN SPORTS, the disciplinary action by Enrique served as a turning point in Dembele’s season.
Wenger praised the coaching decision, stating that it led to a remarkable transformation in the player.
Wenger also highlighted the pivotal roles of Vitinha, Joao Neves, and Fabian Ruiz in PSG’s midfield. He noted that the trio brings a possession-oriented dynamic to the team, describing it as a “Spanish midfield” in style. He also praised fullbacks Nuno Mendes and Achraf Hakimi for their exceptional Champions League performances, which have helped balance the squad.
On the Arsenal side, captain Martin Odegaard gave fans reason for relief after concerns about a possible foot injury. He limped off the pitch following their Premier League loss to Bournemouth but later confirmed the issue was just a sore knock and nothing serious.
In addition, Thomas Partey is available again after serving a suspension in the first leg, providing a key boost to Mikel Arteta’s midfield options.
However, defender Jurrien Timber remains a doubt for the return leg due to fitness concerns.
As both teams prepare for a high-stakes showdown, Dembele’s potential return could prove decisive for PSG’s hopes of reaching the Champions League final. His pace, creativity, and goalscoring form will be essential assets in a tightly contested second leg at the Parc des Princes.

Fernandes and Maguire go wild at Carrington as they watch former Man Utd hero score incredible free-kick (VIDEO)
Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire couldn’t hide their excitement after watching former Manchester United FC team-mate Juan Mata score a stunning free-kick in Australia.
Mata, now 37, currently plays for Melbourne Victory FC in the A-League. Having shared the dressing room with the popular Spaniard for years at Old Trafford, Fernandes and Maguire tuned in to watch Victory’s clash with Sydney FC.
The pair watched the game on a big screen at United’s training ground, Carrington Training Complex.
When Mata stepped up to take a free-kick in the 34th minute, Fernandes immediately began filming. Maguire asked: “Over the wall?” — to which Fernandes replied confidently: “Yeah, for sure. He has to.”
Moments later, Mata curled a superb effort into the top corner, sparking wild celebrations from his former teammates.
As Fernandes shouted with joy, Maguire exclaimed: “Oh my days!” The Portuguese midfielder then added: “The trust I have in this guy, filming live.”
Fernandes later posted the clip on Instagram, writing: “We just knew it that from there he doesn’t miss right @harrymaguire93?”
After the match, Mata was delighted to learn his old United teammates had been watching.
Smiling, the veteran said: “I love them and I’m happy they follow our games. I hope in the next game Bruno can score a similar goal!”
Mata left Manchester United in 2022 after making 285 appearances, scoring 51 goals and providing 44 assists across eight-and-a-half seasons. Since then, he has played for Galatasaray SK, Vissel Kobe and Western Sydney Wanderers FC.
His popularity extends far beyond England. Former Galatasaray teammate Dries Mertens even travelled to Australia recently to visit Mata and watch him play as Melbourne Victory faced Brisbane Roar FC.
Despite Mata’s brilliant opener giving Victory the lead against Sydney FC, they were unable to secure the win. Charles Nduka doubled the advantage in the 69th minute, but quick goals from Apostolos Stamatelopoulos and Ahmet Arslan earned Sydney FC a 2–2 draw.
Even at 37, Mata continues to shine. This season he has made 20 appearances, contributing four goals and 10 assists while rolling back the years with moments of trademark brilliance.

Hansi Flick’s kind gesture towards injured Athletic Club player – caught on camera
Football often revolves around high-stakes moments, but occasionally the game pauses for humanity. That was the case during the clash between FC Barcelona and Athletic Club when an early injury to Unai Gómez briefly halted proceedings.
As Gómez limped off the pitch with assistance from Athletic’s medical staff, he passed by Barcelona’s technical area. There, Hansi Flick caught his attention.
The Barcelona coach offered a quick pat and a few encouraging words, acknowledging the player’s discomfort and the seriousness that injuries can bring.
Though brief, the gesture did not go unnoticed. Many fans praised Flick for showing empathy in the heat of competition, a reminder that beyond tactics and results, football still carries moments of respect and sportsmanship between professionals.
