Baltimore Ravens Share How They're Analyzing Buffalo Bills Ahead of Showdown

Back in Week 4, the Baltimore Ravens secured a commanding 35-10 win over the Buffalo Bills. Now, these two AFC contenders are set to clash again in the Divisional Round, with a spot in the AFC Championship Game at stake.

Though the outcome of that Week 4 matchup no longer holds much weight, especially with the Bills playing at home this Sunday, the Ravens will still review the game as part of their preparation for the postseason.

“I’m not sure what the exact percentage is, but it’s definitely part of the analysis,” said Ravens head coach John Harbaugh.

“You go back and watch all the games, and even dig into past seasons. You’ll identify specific games that are worth emphasizing because they apply to the upcoming matchup. Of course, there are also games we discard based on what we see. We might even skip over some recent games if they don’t seem relevant. For example, we’re not using the last game of the regular season in our preparation. We’ve seen it, we know what happened, but it doesn’t directly influence our game plan.”

The Ravens learned valuable lessons from their November loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, using those lessons to improve and secure wins in December and January. They understand that the Bills will likely make adjustments from their Week 4 strategy, and it will be up to Baltimore to counter those changes effectively.

The Ravens and Bills will kick off at 6:30 p.m. ET from Highmark Stadium. Fans can watch the game on CBS or stream it on Paramount+.

Baltimore Ravens Reunite with WR Weeks After Game Refusal

Less than a month after his initial release, Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Diontae Johnson was claimed off waivers on Wednesday.

The Houston Texans released the 28-year-old former Pro Bowler after he played in two games for them, including their AFC Wild Card win over the Los Angeles Chargers.

Johnson was originally cut by the Ravens on December 23 following a team-issued suspension for allegedly refusing to enter a game against the Philadelphia Eagles on December 1. During his four games with Baltimore, he managed just one reception for six yards.

He will not be eligible to play for the Ravens in the postseason, having already appeared in the playoffs for Houston. However, he will be available to compete again in 2025.

Despite this, Johnson is set to test unrestricted free agency after the Super Bowl. While the Ravens could choose to re-sign him, the team would now be in line to receive a conditional draft pick if he signs elsewhere.

Johnson began the 2024 season with the Carolina Panthers after spending five years with the Pittsburgh Steelers. His performance in Carolina was underwhelming, with 30 catches for 257 yards and three touchdowns in seven games.

Reportedly unhappy in Carolina, the Panthers traded Johnson to Baltimore for a fifth-round pick and a sixth-round choice, a modest return for a player of his caliber.

However, his time with the Ravens was short-lived, as he faced disciplinary action from the team. “We have made the difficult decision to suspend Diontae Johnson for our upcoming game against the New York Giants for conduct detrimental to the team,” Ravens GM Eric DeCosta announced in a statement. “Diontae’s suspension stems from refusing to enter our game against the Philadelphia Eagles… We will have no further comments on this matter.”

At the time, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson expressed frustration with the situation. “We want him out there,” Jackson said. “He’s a great receiver. We didn’t get him from the Panthers for nothing.”

Johnson’s time in Houston also ended on a sour note. He was reportedly upset about his lack of involvement in the offense during the Texans’ win over the Chargers, leading to visible frustration.

According to Click2Houston, team captains Azeez Al-Shaair and Joe Mixon attempted to calm him down. Ultimately, Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans made the decision to move on. “Unfortunately, with Diontae, it didn’t work out. We’re on to the Chiefs,” Ryans said.

Texans wide receiver Robert Woods reflected on the situation, saying, “It’s part of the game. Everyone’s competitive and wants to be their best, but it’s tough. The NFL is a tough profession. That’s all there is to it.”

Ravens Share Key Update on Zay Flowers' Playoff Return

The Baltimore Ravens’ 28-14 playoff victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday was so convincing that it’s easy to overlook the fact they did it without one of their key offensive players.

Zay Flowers, the Ravens’ first-ever Pro Bowl wide receiver, missed the Wild Card Round due to a knee injury sustained the previous week. His absence was a significant blow to the team, though it would have been much more impactful had Baltimore not dominated on the ground, rushing for nearly 300 yards.

Looking ahead to their upcoming Divisional Round matchup against the Buffalo Bills, the Ravens will need all hands on deck. When asked about Flowers’ status for Sunday, head coach John Harbaugh couldn’t provide a clear answer.

“Yes, that’s in ‘we’ll see mode,'” Harbaugh said to reporters. “[Flowers] is working hard to get back, and we’ll see by the end of the week if he’s practicing. And he can play without practicing – for sure – if he feels healthy enough and if it’s safe for him.”

Flowers, selected 22nd overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, made a big leap in his second season. The Boston College product finished the regular season with 74 catches for 1,059 yards and four touchdowns, becoming the Ravens’ first 1,000-yard receiver since 2021.

Without Flowers against the Steelers, the Ravens relied heavily on their tight ends when they did pass. Isaiah Likely led the team in receiving with three catches for 53 yards, while Mark Andrews added two receptions for 27 yards. Rashod Bateman stepped up as the primary wideout, scoring the first touchdown of the game, while Nelson Agholor and Tylan Wallace each had receptions of over 20 yards.

The Bills will present a much greater challenge than the Steelers, so the Ravens are hoping Flowers will be available. If not, however, they remain confident in the other weapons at their disposal.
