Patrick Dorgu’s Man Utd Wages Revealed with Star Earning Less Than Tom Heaton

Manchester United’s latest signing, Patrick Dorgu, has officially joined the club on a contract worth around £40,000 per week.

The 20-year-old Danish left wing-back was introduced to the Old Trafford crowd ahead of United’s 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace last Sunday. His transfer from Lecce cost the Red Devils an initial £25 million, with an additional £4 million potentially due in performance-related bonuses.

Despite the significant transfer fee, Dorgu will be among the lowest earners in the first-team squad.

According to The Athletic, he has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract worth £40,000 per week—a notable salary increase for a player in just his third season of senior football but still a manageable figure for United.

Only Altay Bayindir and Kobbie Mainoo earn less than Dorgu in the current squad. Bayindir, 26, joined as a backup goalkeeper, while Mainoo’s contract, signed in February 2023, is expected to be renegotiated soon. Even third-choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton earns slightly more at £45,000 per week, while Alejandro Garnacho’s £50,000-a-week salary remains lower than veteran Jonny Evans’ £65,000 per week.

United offloaded two of their highest earners in the final days of the January transfer window. Marcus Rashford moved to Aston Villa on loan, with Unai Emery’s side covering at least 75% of his £325,000-a-week wages, potentially rising to 90% based on performance. Meanwhile, Antony secured a temporary switch to Real Betis, where the La Liga side will pay at least 84% of his £200,000 weekly salary.

Despite these departures, United were unable to strengthen their attack before the window closed. A proposed loan move for Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel fell through after club officials refused to meet the £5 million loan fee. Instead, Tel joined Tottenham on loan, with Spurs securing an option to make the move permanent for £45 million this summer.
